AMU Famous Gate - Two Famous Gate of AMU

amu famous gate

Both the AMU Famous Gate Bab-e-Syed and Amu Centennial Gates have a long and beautiful history. In order to create a university that would help the nation’s young people succeed in all spheres, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan gave the English language top priority because it is the language used for the majority of academic work worldwide. He retained Islamic architecture while creating department buildings, offices, and other types of gates, and tried to give some of the structures an Oxford College feel. As a viewer, these are essentially brick and cement buildings with a pronounced classical style that might be admired for the designs, but each building in fact has a history of learning, toil, passion, and objectives. The seed of wisdom was sown in this location. To know more click here

AMU Centenary Gate

Since the University’s founding, it has experienced a great deal of change and reached significant developmental milestones. In 1920, it adopted the name Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). With success in every area, AMU Famous Gate AMU achieved another landmark by closing the Centenary gate to signify the institution’s 100 years as Aligarh Muslim University. On the holy day of October 17, 2020, the gate was virtually opened by Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, chancellor of the university, in honour of Sir Syed on his birthday. The Chancellor heartily congratulated the whole AMU community on this achievement and thanked everyone for their contributions to the university in their various capacities as professors, students, administrators, etc. Read more

The esteemed Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, attended the centennial ceremony on December 22 as the chief guest. The institute received the PM’s sincere congratulations for each of these things as well as for its ability to effectively serve society even under COVID-19 conditions. He compared the university to a little version of India and expressed his admiration for AMU’s commitment to diversity by valuing the contribution of Urdu, Hindi, Arabic, and Sanskrit.

The Purani Chungi neighbourhood is close to where the Centenary gate was built. The gate, which is considerably larger than the Bab-e-Syed gate at AMU, is composed of red sandstone. Its structure is carefully sculpted, evoking and maintaining the essence of older structures with Islamic architectural styles. The gate is very significant since it provides access to all the departments, beginning with the Commerce department and Minto Circle School and continuing with all the other buildings that make up the institution. This institution’s magnificent antique appearance also serves as a reminder that it is among India’s oldest universities.

AMU at BAB E SYED GATE

Aligarh Muslim University’s historical landmark is Bab-e-Syed gate. The gate is the major entrance for the general public to the university and connects to all of the faculties, departments, guest homes, Maulana Azad Library (the main library), etc. Red and white sandstone are used in its construction. Its arches are cupped. A large gate in the centre of the entire construction is flanked by two more, identical short heightened AMU Famous Gate gates. This lattice work is being constructed on the parapet of the main gate. The left and right sides of the main-medial gate have two enormous miners hooked to it, and they are chattering. Similar to this, two little miners are attached to each of the entrance gates separately.

Millions of students come to this country to learn and grow, and Bab-e-Syed is a symbol of the doorway to their hopes and dreams. It serves as a reminder that AMU is still active. Each and every person who is a part of AMU values the gate greatly. This entrance gate serves as the starting point for all significant demonstrations and marches, underscoring the significance it has acquired as the AMU’s primary entrance.

The gate is on the list of popular tourist attractions in AMU because of how closely its design matches several Mughal structures, which intrigues many people to explore and clearly see its building method.

Conclusion

Despite the fact that both gates are similar to one another, they both hold equal significance for the university. Both of these attest to Aligarh Muslim University’s continued existence as one of India’s oldest institutions. The gates are more than simply a way to enter the university campus; they are also signs pointing in the right path for learning new things. They lead to the structures that encourage students to achieve success in both their personal and professional life on a global scale.

These gates are those manifestations of this foundation that serve as a constant reminder to the public that AMU is deserving of the opportunity to reach the pinnacles of achievement in all endeavours. It dates back to the time of Sir Syed Khan’s dreams, and
